Stress Management
Everyone feels stress. What matters most is how you carry it. This module helps participants measure their own stress and build coping tools that work in recovery.

What the module covers.
The module starts with what stress actually is: the body and mind's response to pressure or change. Some stress helps us act; too much wears us down. Participants take the Perceived Stress Scale to get an honest read on their own stress level, then inventory the coping strategies they already use and add practical new ones, from journaling and time outdoors to fitness, music, and creative work.
From there, the module turns to mindfulness. Research with people in recovery shows that mindfulness practice helps interrupt the automatic reach for a substance, easing cravings by teaching participants to notice feelings and respond with awareness instead of reacting. The session closes with journaling prompts, a guided practice, and goal-setting for the week ahead.

How it's delivered.
Sessions open with the Brighter Path commitments and a bit of humor, then move through video, discussion, and hands-on work: the Perceived Stress Scale, a "bad day" story activity, and fill-in journaling prompts ("When I feel stressed, I usually ___"). Participants leave with guided meditation resources and a goal for the coming week, and every session closes by connecting them to local and national support.
